A woman in her thirties was assaulted with a gun in a Lachine apartment on Saturday. A suspect was arrested by the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
Emergency services were called around 11 a.m. Saturday to an attack on an apartment on rue Camille, near rue Ouellette, in Lachine, west of Montreal.
A woman in her thirties was found there, stabbed in the upper body, according to information from Véronique Dubuc, public relations officer for the SPVM.
The victim was taken to hospital. She was conscious when help arrived and her life is out of danger.
A 47-year-old suspect, who already has a criminal record, was arrested by the police. He may not have acted alone and other arrests could follow in the case, specifies the SPVM. A scene has been erected in the area for investigation purposes.
Firearm thrown out the window
When they arrived in the area, the police also saw a firearm being thrown from a window, also on Camille Street.
Everything leads to believe that it is a modified pellet weapon, specifies agent Véronique Dubuc. A suspect was also apprehended in connection with this weapon.
There would be, a priori, no link between the two events, according to the SPVM.
