To pay The Milking
The First Nations hotel-museum, owned by the Huron-Wendat nation in Wendake, is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. An anniversary marked by a facelift given to some of the rooms, but also by very low prices. This is particularly the case at the establishment’s restaurant, La Traite, which specializes in Aboriginal-inspired gastronomy. Until June 27, on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings, gourmets can enjoy a five-course menu for $55, including barbecued scallops, a piece of venison served with maple carrots and a sugar pie with crispy bannock. An immersion to continue, why not, with an overnight stay and a visit to the museum of this unique hotel.
New caffeinated festival
We have more and more roasters in Quebec, and even more specialty coffee lovers. Thirty or so artisans have therefore decided to unite to launch the very first Collective Café festival in Montreal, which will take place on May 26, 27 and 28 at the WIP (3487, boulevard Saint-Laurent). During these three days, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the watchwords will be tasting, exchanges and purchases for visitors who wish. Equipment and accessories will be sold on-site to enhance caffeinated experiences at home. Participating roasters include Zab, Pista, Bruloir, 94 Celcius, Canal, Manomano, Sensory House, Nordik, Julius, Escape, Melk, Artery, Za&Klo, Saint-Henri, Ambros, Jungle and Binocle. Tickets are on sale ($15) to enjoy unlimited tastings at this festival.
Agrotourism at a click
Each region of Quebec has directories of producers, often offering itineraries, but the search can sometimes be a bit tedious. So, here is BonApp, a new web platform that should interest the “epicurious” during the summer season! BonApp offers an annual gourmet digital passport of 10 tastings of local products, at a cost of $46. His main interest? You can freely choose the experiences you want to carry out among the forty participating producers and artisans (farms, vineyards, cheese factories, distilleries, bakeries, etc.), located in eastern Quebec, from Bas-Saint-Laurent to in the North Shore. To guide our choices, an interactive map, presentation sheets, anecdotes and even audio messages from producers are offered on the platform. A great concept that we believe will quickly spread throughout the province.
