Gourmet events, dance, cinema, contemporary art: what to do this weekend?

Eating in celebration

Food lovers — and barbecue lovers — will be served this weekend at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal as part of the Rendez-vous gourmands. Friday, starting at 5 p.m. at the Jardins des Floralies, a culinary celebration for the 150th anniversary of Parc Jean-Drapeau will bring together chefs and restaurateurs led by Paul Toussaint, the chef of Kamúy restaurant. Poutine lovers can fill their bellies at the Drummondville Poutine Festival, which began Thursday and continues until Saturday. It’s not just fries, gravy and cheese curds that are on the menu: musical performances by Daniel Bélanger, Karkwa and Roy, la Rose et le Lou[p] are also on the schedule.

Dance, dance

Pretty thingsa choreography by Catherine Gaudet, winner of the 2022 Grand Prix de la danse de Montréal, is presented Saturday evening at the Théâtre de Verdure in Parc La Fontaine, in Montreal. In this performance, which is free of charge, the five performers of the Catherine Gaudet company explore the body and desires. In Tremblant this weekend, salsa will reign supreme. The Canadian Salsa Festivals Project is coming to Tremblant for a first edition of Salsa Tremblant. Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be filled with Latin dance and music, in the dance classes offered by the Danse Alejandro group or in performances by singer Ricky Franco.

Cinema in Percé

The Percéides festival, which began on Monday, continues its momentum to end on Sunday. In conclusion of this 16e edition of the Percé International Film and Art Festival, feature-length and short films are on the menu. The program is packed with options for everyone, including a tribute to actor Marcel Sabourin on Sunday, a presentation of short documentaries on Friday, and a screening of the family animated film My robot friend Saturday and Sunday. Recently released movies, such as The Count of Monte Cristo — which will serve as the closing film — are also screened. The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday evening.

Last chance!

The 42e The Baie-Saint-Paul International Contemporary Art Symposium, which began last July, is coming to an end this weekend. This year’s visual arts event’s theme was “Inhabiting the World – Art and Ecology.” In Charlevoix, the closing concert of the Domaine Forget International Festival will be held Saturday at 8 p.m. Led by Les Violons du Roy, this show brings down the curtain on the festival that began in June. After kicking off in early August, the ComediHa! Fest-Québec comedy festival is taking its final bow in the capital on Saturday.
