The weight of the duvet contributes to the comforting effect. Easy access to light switches, located on either side of the bed, and outlets for recharging devices is the kind of attention that adds to the comfort. Designers treat it as a material in itself. “Lighting is a complex beast and it has become more so with the advent of LED, which consumes less energy, which makes it more wonderful from the point of view of possibilities,” says designer Louise Dupont, of the firm Lemay Michaud. Designers use it for indirect lighting, camouflaged behind a piece of furniture, a headboard or in an alcove. “This is what gives a magical and cozy side to the decor,” she adds. To me, it takes those two components: functional lighting – which includes reading and work lights or a backlit anti-fog bathroom mirror – and mood lighting. And this is often what is missing in homes. »Also essential: dimmers which allow you to calibrate according to situations and tastes.

The fenestration makes it possible to enhance the breathtaking views of the environment and provide the premises with abundant natural light which must however be contained or blocked as needed. In order to modulate the light, quality canvases, blinds or curtains allow total darkness, while sheer curtains create partial privacy during the day.

In a high-end hotel, the visitor must be able to find himself in an enclosed environment once the door is closed. “There are plenty of ways to make sure you have peace of mind from a sound point of view.
