The Royal Canadian Mint is coming to Costco with a gold coin made with precious metal mined from the Detour Lake gold mine operated by Agnico Eagle.
Featuring the maple leaf – Canada’s emblem – this one-ounce investment coin is now available, says the Crown corporation responsible for Canada’s circulation coins.
The Press has already reported the astonishment of the retailer Costco at the gold plates that it occasionally places on its transactional website.
Located in the northernmost part of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt in northeastern Ontario, Detour Lake is the largest operating gold mine in Canada, with gold reserves totalling 19.9 million ounces.
Agnico Eagle is the largest gold producer in Canada and the third largest in the world.
