The Parisian adventure over, the French striker is (finally) from Madrid. After years of procrastination, Kylian Mbappé made it official, Friday May 10, his departure from PSG, after seven seasons in the capital. All that was missing was the announcement of his future club, Real Madrid, which fell on Monday June 3. The Bondy prodigy will wear merengue colors from next season.

At 25, he still has his entire career ahead of him. In Paris, he will leave an indelible mark. Top scorer in the club’s history, with whom he reached the Champions League final in August 2020, he set standards that will go down in history.

256 goals

Since March 4, 2023 and his 201st goal in red and blue, against Nantes, Kylian Mbappé has been the top scorer in the history of PSG. That day, the record set by Edinson Cavani just three years earlier was erased. “I’m playing to make history and I’ve always said I wanted to do it. It’s not over”he then reacted, with the insatiability that has characterized him since his first steps.

An appetite which allowed him to break records one after the other, but he will probably have missed a season to beat that of Roger Courtois, top scorer with the same French club in all competitions (281 goals with Sochaux from 1933 to 1940, then from 1945 to 1952).

Monaco and the French team included, Kylian Mbappé surpassed the 300-goal mark on November 18, 2023, a month before celebrating his 25th birthday. Today there are 329 professional achievements.

Decisive every 70 minutes

Kylian Mbappé is also the king of consistency. He has never made more than four starts without directly participating in a goal. With PSG, he is decisive (either scorer or passer) every 70 minutes on average. This is better than all the other great attackers in the club’s history: Zlatan Ibrahimovic (every 72 minutes), Edinson Cavani (97) or Pedro Miguel Pauleta (152).

Its effectiveness and reliability are such that over the seasons, “Mbappé dependence” has become a subject. In the 2023-2024 financial year, his last in Paris, he is directly involved in 44% of the goals scored by the club in all competitions (54/124) and has scored 30 more times than his runner-up, Gonçalo Ramos (44 for Mbappé, against 14 for the Portuguese).

Youngest player to score 100 goals in Ligue 1

Regularity, reliability, but above all precocity. Kylian Mbappé’s career did not need an acclimatization period. Launched into the deep end at 16 by AS Monaco in December 2015, he did not have to wait very long to reach the 100 goal mark in Ligue 1. Twenty-two years, three months and one day exactly, which allows him to beat Hervé Revelli’s record by more than a year, the fastest before him (23 years and five months).

He is also the second youngest player to have been top scorer in a first division season (33 goals in 2018-2019 at 20 years and five months). This precocity went far beyond the national scene, since Kylian Mbappé was also the youngest player to reach 40 goals in the Champions Leaguesix months earlier than Lionel Messi, before being recently beaten by Erling Haaland.

3rd in the 2023 Ballon d’or

He is the only player who has not left the Top 10 of the Ballon d’Or since 2017. Kylian Mbappé even climbed onto the podium in the ranking rewarding the best player in the world this year. Since the beginning of the 2000s, he is one of five French players to have achieved this performance alongside Zinédine Zidane (2nd in 2000), Thierry Henry (2nd in 2003, 3rd in 2006), Franck Ribéry (3rd in 2013). ) and Antoine Griezmann (3rd in 2016 and 2018). While waiting to win this ultimate reward, he has won all the individual distinctions possible with PSG.

He has been voted best player in Ligue 1 at the UNFP trophies five times (continuously since 2019), a record. He is also the top scorer in the last six seasons of the French championship. No one had been so many times.

More than 300 matches with Paris

308 appearances, at only 25 years old. Kylian Mbappé entered the top 10 of players who have played the most matches in PSG history, ahead of Edinson Cavani (301). However, he will remain far from the podium, for the moment occupied by Marquinhos (443 matches), Jean-Marc Pilorget (435) and Marco Verratti (416).

15 collective trophies

In seven seasons, Kylian Mbappé has accumulated 15 collective trophies with PSG (six Ligue 1, four French Cups, three Champions Trophies, two League Cups), without ever managing to get his hands on the Champions League, which has, however, been the priority of the capital club since 2011. At the level of Paris Saint-Germain, the striker remains very far from Marquinhos’ record, the Brazilian having won 30 trophies since his arrival in the capital in 2013.
