No less than 40,000 level 2 (240 volts) terminals will be installed in the medium term and the manufacturer specifies that they will be deployed above all in poorly equipped rural and urban regions, that is to say where the he access to charging stations is limited.
There will be some in workplaces, on campuses, near theaters, arenas and sports centers, and even apartment buildings. These stations will be open to all electric vehicle owners, not just GM customers.
The project is due to start next year and GM dealers will be called upon to set up the stations in their respective communities.
In addition, the manufacturer announced that three models of Ultium branded domestic and commercial charging stations will be offered to consumers and businesses from the first months of 2022, both online and in concession. Their capacity ranges from 11.5 to 19.2 kilowatts.
Each has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and can be improved over time through remote updates. Two of the models include a premium charger, a customizable touchscreen, and a built-in camera.
