Jean-Luc Mélenchon is organizing an “immersive” meeting on Sunday January 16 in Nantes. After the holograms, the candidate of France Insoumise therefore offers a new device. Once again La France insoumise wants to create the event.
Clémentine Autain, LFI deputy, revealed the ambition of this immersive meeting a few days ago: “It’s an immersive and olfactory meeting, with a completely innovative, unique technology. This will allow us to feel emotions and project ourselves into this world according to which we are calling for. It is very important that at this stage of the Jean-Luc Mélenchon campaign can have an original and modern initiative, to show what his vision is.”
Is it absolutely necessary to innovate in terms of political communication? Gadget or efficiency?
Gaspard Gantzer: Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who is an “ace” of meetings, who has already been practicing them for many years, decides this time to bet on the feeling, the emotion, the perception of the public. Let’s be honest, this has been around for a long time, rally speakers have worked on the psychology of crowds, especially throughout the 20th century. What is new today is that there is a form of weakening of political ideologies, programs and political projects, and therefore around the meeting it is necessary to invent other forms to interest the media and militants.
Is Jean-Luc Mélenchon the only one to innovate in the organization of his meetings? Are the other candidates working on projects to surprise the activists?
Gaspard Gantzer: What is certain in this election campaign is that innovation will take place on social networks, on all existing platforms. But in the context of the meetings, some will still try to make some changes: Valérie Pécresse on the one hand, Yannick Jadot on the other hand.
What is certain is that the innovation will not come from the President of the Republic, who is going to run a traditional campaign, nor from Marine Le Pen, who decides to hold small meetings, small political rallies and no ‘Éric Zemmour who is more on the traditional side of political meetings.
