The conflict in Ukraine has awakened the fears of neighboring countries such as Poland and Romania, but also Germany, which wishes to invest 100 billion euros in its army. Part of this funding could enable it to equip itself with an anti-missile shield.
Latest generation shields capable of intercepting missiles outside the Earth’s atmosphere, this is what the future German anti-aircraft defense could look like. The objective for Germany is to protect itself from Russia. “We all have to be prepared for the fact that we have a neighboring country which is always ready to use force to defend its interests”said German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
A delegation of German MPs has also arrived in Israel, as the country has developed its own system to intercept rockets from Lebanon and detonate them in the air before they hit Israeli soil. By positioning them in the north of the country, Germany could thus intercept missiles fired from Kaliningrada Russian enclave. The cost of the operation amounts to two billion euros. The deputies are divided. A month ago, the German government also announced the release of 100 billion euros to modernize its army. The country has also purchased 35 combat aircraft from the United States. If Germany validates this project, the system could be operational within three years.
