Traveling to Créteil (Val-de-Marne), the Minister of the Interior congratulated himself on his record in the fight against drug trafficking. But traffickers are using new methods which are more difficult to counter.
In the war he says he is waging against drug trafficking, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin welcomed “record results”traveling to Créteil (Val-de-Marne), Sunday January 21. “We continue not only to make additional seizures, (with) deal points, but also to arrest traffickers since in the year 2023, absolute record, 36 429 traffickers were arrested on the national territory”did he declare.
New methods that are difficult to dismantle
In three years, 1,000 deal points have been removed out of more than 4,000 in total. But authorities are now facing other methods, more difficult to dismantle, such as delivering narcotics directly to consumers’ homes. Gérald Darmanin is asking the government for additional resources to stop drug trafficking, and in particular to fight against the arrival of new dangerous substances, such as fentanyl.
