Georginio Wijnaldum is therefore the first “undesirable” to have found the exit door from the PSG loft. The loft was installed and organized by sports director Luis Campos, to make certain players like Draxler, Kurzawa, Kerher or even Herrera and Wijnaldum understand that another club had to be found for the coming season.
In contract until June 2024 with PSG, Georginio Wijnaldum was loaned to AS Roma with an option to buy. On the transfer market, the midfielder is valued at around 15 million euros.
In his operation to downsize the workforce, this departure – even on loan – will do good for PSG since the Dutchman was earning a salary of 700,000 euros per month.

“Gini” made pschitt
Nicknamed “Gini”, Georginio Wijnaldum is perhaps one of the biggest disappointments of the 2021-2022 season for PSG. Arrived at PSG for free from Liverpool where he was a base in Jürgen Klopp’s squad and strong from a pretty crazy Euro 2021 with the Netherlands, the Dutch midfielder has never managed to impose himself on the field as well as outside with his teammates.
Often a substitute, Wijnaldum was not helped by a Mauricio Pochettino unable to place and stabilize him in a specific position on the ground. The Batavian midfielder will have made 38 appearances with the PSG jersey on his back for an average of 30 minutes of play per game with only three goals scored.
