Gaël Perdriau, mayor of Saint-Étienne, excluded from the Republicans

The mayor of Saint-Etienne, Gaël Perdriau, was definitively expelled from the Republicans on Tuesday. He was unanimously excluded during a political office of the LRs, which took place this Tuesday evening.

This decision comes as no surprise: the party launched the procedure for the exclusion of the 50-year-old mayor on September 13in particular on the initiative and at the request of the deputy LR Loire and former mayor of Feurs, Jean-Pierre Taite.

This decision comes a little over a month after a series of revelations from Mediapart on an intimate video blackmail,
video which would have served to curb the political ambitions of Gilles Artigues, former first deputy to the City of Saint-Étienne.

Former vice-president of the Republicans, Gaël Perdriau had already been dismissed from his responsibilities in December 2021 by Christian Jacob. No link with the Stéphanoise affair, Gaël Perdriau had made critical remarks with regard to Valérie Pécresse and Eric Ciotti.
