In this year 2022, Gad Elmaleh is back in the cinema, in front of and behind the camera. He is soon releasing “Reste un peu”, his new comedy as a director, which he shares with his family, which hits theaters on November 16, 2022. In this new feature film, established in the United States for three years , he returned to France without daring to admit to his family that he did so to convert to Catholicism.

I did a retreat in Sénanque, near Avignon where there is an abbey of Cistercian monks and one morning at breakfast there are lots of people who come to ask me for selfies and there is a brother who passes over there and who sees me and who doesn’t understand and he summons me to his office“, begins Gad Elmaleh.
“He asks me if there is a problem because he saw that there were a lot of people asking me things and there was a little tension“, says the actor before revealing his answer: “No no my brother there is no tension. It’s just people who wanted to take a picture with me.” “And I dare not tell him that it’s because I’m famous and they just want to take a picture with me“, he confides.
“And they, do they know you? So you take pictures with people who know you but you don’t?, the monk would have told him. “Basically he had no idea who I was. And at one point I break down and say something pathetic to him: Because I’m famous. And then he tells me that he’s been there for fifty-two years and that he doesn’t have a TV. And I redid my CV in front of this brother, he asked me who I was and why I was known why people were interested in me and I also wondered why people were interested in me. And that put me back on the ground. I redefined myself“, confessed Gad Elmaleh.
