“Ensure that those who go to work can make a living from their work.” The Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal, affirmed his desire to reform the system of the interprofessional minimum wage for growth (smic) to “de-microcardize France”, during his general policy declaration before the National Assembly, Tuesday January 30.
The Prime Minister pointed out a “paradox” in France, with a minimum wage “significantly higher than that of our neighbors”but “a much larger share of our workers close to the minimum wage than our neighbors”. “As of the next finance bill (…) we will begin to reform this system”, announces the Prime Minister. Reform projects which will rely in particular “on the proposals of parliamentarians, social partners and on a certain number of expert works which are currently being carried out”.
