“As of Monday, I will bring together all the rectors, and I want to carry out an audit on all the harassment situations that have been reported since last year.” The Minister of National Education, Gabriel Attal, spoke on Saturday September 16, after the publication of a letter addressed to the parents of a 15-year-old teenager, victim of school bullying, who committed suicide in Poissy (Yvelines), September 5.
In this letter, the rectorate of Versailles denounced the attitude of the parents who had asked the principal of their son’s establishment what actions he had put in place. This mail “is a shame”, criticized the minister. The Prime Minister had also judged this letter “offbeat” and talked about “failure”. My role is not to defend our institutions at all costs, it is to defend our students and our children at all costs.” once again castigated Gabriel Attal, who is due to announce on September 25 an interministerial plan to fight against school bullying.
