Futuroscope to Launch Groundbreaking Water Roller Coaster on June 14 with €25 Million Investment

Futuroscope is set to unveil the water roller coaster Mission Bermuda on June 14, featuring thrilling descents and a unique immersive experience. This €25 million attraction is part of the park’s “Vision 2025” initiative, which aims to enhance visitor experiences and includes new attractions and themed hotels. With a focus on year-round operation and comfort, Futuroscope is positioning itself as a top destination, anticipating further developments with its “Vision 2030” strategy.

Experience the thrill of rapid descents, exhilarating twists that mimic the sensation of capsizing, reverse motions, and an impressive drop of 16 meters! The highly anticipated water roller coaster, Mission Bermuda, is set to debut at Futuroscope on June 14. This groundbreaking attraction, developed in collaboration with the renowned German manufacturer Mack Rides, represents a world-first investment of 25 million euros. Visitors will embark on an adventure aboard boats that glide along submerged tracks, navigating the mysterious and captivating landscapes of the Bermuda Triangle in pursuit of a lost crew. The innovative “Rocking boat” technology enables the vessel to execute sharp turns while maintaining speed control.

“We have never allocated such a substantial budget to any attraction before,” stated Rodolphe Bouin, the chairman of Futuroscope’s board. This thrilling ride, designed for children over 1.10m, will last nearly five minutes and is currently undergoing testing. Initial engineers to test the ride reported being “very drenched,” with Bouin noting, “some adjustments will still be needed.” The attraction is designed to operate year-round, featuring adjustable water effects to ensure comfort for guests even during colder weather.

Transformative Investments for Extended Visits

Mission Bermuda is a key component of the ambitious “Vision 2025” initiative, a 300 million euro investment plan approved in 2020 aimed at radically enhancing the Futuroscope experience. Over the past five years, the park has introduced three major attractions and two themed hotels, a first for Futuroscope, along with the Aquascope, an indoor water park costing 60 million euros, scheduled to open in summer 2024 and already acclaimed as the best in the world. Additionally, an arena has been added near the entrance to host concerts and sporting events, alongside the modernization of older attractions.

This strategic vision has successfully transformed Futuroscope into a premier destination for extended stays, rivaling major competitors like Disneyland Paris, Puy du Fou, and Parc Astérix, which is part of the same group, Compagnie des Alpes. More than half of visitors are now opting for multi-day experiences, traveling from increasingly distant locations. In 2024, Futuroscope welcomed 2.05 million visitors, with Aquascope attracting 160,000 guests. While this marks a slight increase from pre-pandemic numbers (1.9 million), revenue has soared over five years, reaching 134 million euros in the previous year compared to 105 million euros in 2019.

Exciting Developments Ahead for 2030

As anticipation builds for the June opening of Mission Bermuda, guests can look forward to a new experience in Les yeux grands fermés, which allows participants to step into the shoes of a blind individual guided by a visually impaired mentor, launching on February 8. This paid attraction has supported a charity for the blind for two decades. Additionally, the Eclispe show, which features a robotic arm performing dance, will be enhanced with drones starting February 8.

Having successfully completed its investment plan, Futuroscope is already looking ahead with a “Vision 2030” strategy that is reportedly “well advanced.” Rodolphe Bouin assures that they will continue to invest at a high level, indicating a “very ambitious” future. While specific details are set to be unveiled in 2026, the park is actively developing two new experiences in unused spaces for next year, along with a third themed hotel that is already in advanced planning stages. Furthermore, a major thrill attraction is anticipated to be introduced in 2028, with Bouin teasing, “Contracts have already been signed, but more details will come later…”
