From Saint-Hubert airport to “MET”

In the wake of its shift towards commercial aviation, Montréal Saint-Hubert Airport adopted the name “MET-Montréal Metropolitan Airport”.

This change, which will be announced this Thursday, is part of the new strategy of the airport, where a terminal is currently being built by Porter Airlines – a project worth more than 200 million.

“With its great development, we are changing the very nature of the airport,” says its president and CEO, Yanic Roy, in a press release.

The inauguration of the terminal is scheduled for around summer 2025.

There will be nine boarding gates which should ultimately accommodate more than 4 million passengers.

This project raises questions in the vicinity of the airport, where citizens fear the negative repercussions of the airport’s expansion ambitions, particularly with regard to noise.
