“You see, life exists”, lets the singer slip in all delicacy, inviting his companion – and the listener, by extension – to snuggle up against him, in the aptly named The lifenothing else. The handsome man from Lac-Saguay does not claim victory, even if he has indeed postponed the announced end, the corollary of a very serious health alert. In a serenade tone, with his beautiful warm voice, Claude Gauthier rocks us, calm and smiling. This seventeenth album in six decades celebrates without fuss the links of yesteryear and today. Emphasizes, choir in support, the fidelity of memory “like a lighthouse in the sea”, despite the “stubborn fog”. Piano sometimes jazzy, light on purpose, guitar waltzing with the dance of the wind, the whole disc nicely turned by the director Luc Gilbert is less a reprieve than an opportunity seized to live well. Here a tribute to Guy Lafleur, there words of hope for children despite the pandemic and the uncertainty of tomorrow, it is quite simply and beautifully the continuation of the “most beautiful trip”.
