Witness hearings began in Argentina on Tuesday, July 16, in the investigation into suspicions of aggravated rape targeting rugby players Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jégou.
The hearings in the case of the two French rugby players suspected of aggravated rape began on Tuesday, July 16, at the Mendoza (Argentina) prosecutor’s office. For the moment, only the witnesses of the investigation are being heard. The mother of the complainant and the expert who noted her injuries will speak on Sunday, July 21. Natacha Romero, the complainant’s lawyer, gives an update on her client: “She has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and is taking medication to treat her mental health.”
Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jégou, suspected of aggravated rape of a 39-year-old woman, speak of consensual sexual relations and deny all forms of violence. According to their lawyer, new evidence confirms their innocence. “We must now obtain house arrest as quickly as possible”asks Rafael Cuneo Libarona, the rugby players’ lawyer. If the facts are proven, the two players face up to twenty years in prison.
