In one year, the prices of certain French fruits and vegetables have even fallen, despite the inflation affecting the food sector.

On market stalls, seasonal varieties are holding their own against inflation. Compared to 2022, the prices of French fruit and vegetables have not changed much. “There, they are rather at reasonable prices. It allows you to have fun”, assures a woman. In one year, the prices of certain French fruits and vegetables have even fallen. For example, the kilo of courgettes fell by 47 centsand the kilo of tomatoes decreased by 27 cents. Prices were contained, in part, thanks to favorable weather.

Producers must cut back on their margins

However, producers are also suffering from inflation. In recent months, Blanche Bosy, a farmer in Ille-et-Vilaine, has seen her charges jump.
