War in Ukraine: French fighters in the International Legion
War in Ukraine: French fighters in the International Legion
(France 2)

French people joined the International Legion to support the Ukrainian forces on the front against the Russian army. A commitment made via registration on the Internet.

The latest recruits to the International Legion are four Frenchmen, an American, a German and an Austrian. Landed in Ukraine two months ago, they are training to soon fight Russian forces. “Like everyone else, we came to get a little adrenaline and to defend the people of the country who are suffering injustices”, explains one of the recruits. They are not mercenaries. They will be integrated into the Ukrainian army. They will be able to carry out assault and reconnaissance actions in small groups but always under command.

Among the day’s exercises, they must progress along an imaginary front line. These are the final adjustments before being sent to war. To register, you start on the Internet. You must be between 18 and 60 years old and have no criminal record. Then in a few clicks, the volunteer can register and after a selection made by the Ukrainians, the recruits are trained before joining the front line.
