(Idre Fjäll) After a difficult Saturday, Quebecer Mikaël Kingsbury resumed his good habits when he emerged victorious from the moguls to duels event as part of the Freestyle Skiing World Cup, Sunday in Idre Fjäll, Sweden.
In the grand final, the athlete from Deux-Montagnes defeated the Japanese Ikuma Horishima, winner of the individual event held on Saturday at the same place.
Sweden’s Ludvig Fjallstrom came third after beating compatriot Oskar Elofsson in the small final.
Kingsbury was second in the qualifying stage with a score of 83.45, behind Frenchman Benjamin Cavet (83.61).
In the knockout round, Kingsbury first beat Frenchman Martin Suire in the round of 16, before eliminating American Bradley Wilson in the next stage.
In the semifinals, Kingsbury had the best ahead of Elofsson.
On the women’s side, sisters Justine and Chloé Dufour-Lapointe were eliminated in the round of 16, against Japanese Rino Yanagimoto and French Perrine Laffont, respectively.
Justine ranked 11e and Chloé, 13e.
For her part, Sofiane Gagnon, who is originally from British Columbia, advanced to the quarter-final round after her victory over Russia’s Anastasiia Smirnova.
She lost her flag against Laffont in the quarter-finals and completed the competition in seventh place.
Laffont won the grand final at the expense of Yanagimoto.
