Freedom Convoy | Organizer Accused of Violating Parole

(Ottawa) The trial against Freedom Convoy organizer Pat King ended late last month, but he appears in court again Friday. The Crown accuses him of breaching his bail conditions.

Pat King has pleaded not guilty to mischief, counselling others to commit mischief, obstructing a peace officer and other charges. A judge is expected to deliver his verdict in October.

Mr. King appears before the same judge on Friday, who will decide whether the convoy organizer should remain in prison pending the court’s decision.

The accused, who lives in Alberta, travelled to Ottawa last week to turn himself in to police after learning of the allegations. He has remained in custody since then.

Mr. King was a leading figure in the massive protests that took place in Ottawa in 2022, when demonstrators took to the streets of downtown Ottawa for three weeks.

They were protesting public health restrictions and vaccination mandates put in place for COVID-19, as well as the federal Liberal government.
