Fred Pellerin and François Girard among new members of the Order of Canada

Several Quebecers and New Brunswickers are on the list of new members of the Order of Canada published Wednesday by the Governor General of Canada.

In particular, there are three artistic personalities, namely Fred Pellerin, Suzanne Tremblay and Suzanne Sauvage.

Others have achieved promotions within the Order. Donald Savoie from New Brunswick, rises to the rank of Companion, while two Quebecers, director François Girard and Alberto Pérez-Gomez, known in the world of architecture, are appointed Officers. Among the latter is also Donovan Bailey, honored for his excellence in athletics and for his philanthropic commitment.

Other Quebecers who become members of the Order of Canada are cultural figures Suzanne Aubry, Michel Beaulac and James West, André Blanchet for his work in psychology, photographers Bernard Brault and Geneviève Cadieux, Ethel Côté for his contribution to the economy Social, Jacques Bourgault for his work in public administration, manager Madeleine Féquière and Adam Kahane for his work in mediation.

Three new members are from New Brunswick: Aboriginal personality Stephen Augustine, Euclide Chiasson, from the cultural community, and Louis-Philippe J. Léo Albert, for promoting services in French and for his work in the agricultural industry .

The full list includes 85 new appointments to the Order of Canada; four people were promoted.

Recipients will be presented with their insignia at investiture ceremonies to be held at later dates.
