After years of glorious polls, François Legault has probably gotten used to looking at them a little too much. To the point where some of his decisions ended up being seen as having been taken to please public opinion. Moreover, in some of his explanations to make his actions understood, he does not even hide it.

By striving to please and torn apart so as not to displease, the CAQ is losing everyone. Honestly, I don’t remember seeing a party and its leader go downhill at this speed.
Today’s poll is disastrous. THE CAQ falls like a rock. Satisfaction with the government is falling just as quickly, if not more. François Legault himself has become the most unpopular prime minister in Canada. And all arrows point down for future probe shots.
They are plummeting in terms of popular support. They are also falling in terms of the respect accorded by the population. Even among those who did not support the CAQ in recent years, many still respected the work of the government. This too is lost. The government is now seen as opportunistic, confused and erratic.

Difficult months ahead
Let’s be honest with the CAQ: public sector negotiations are making the situation worse. The union members are furious and they are affecting those around them. One way or another, this situation will be resolved and the tension will ease. This should help somewhat to calm the hostile climate that currently prevails.
Nevertheless, François Legault and his troops must be lucid: things will not be put back together easily. Experience it this winter. Take a slide downhill and three-quarters of the way up the hill, try paddling with your mitts on to get back to the top. Not easy!
The important thing now for this government which has become unpopular is to change its way of thinking. Don’t worry about losing your popularity, it’s already happened. So make the difficult and courageous decisions that are good for the future of Quebec.
“I love my audience and my audience loves me” La Poune liked to say. Well! François Legault must stop thinking like La Poune and must start thinking like Margaret Thatcher! He must unite his team around a courageous and lucid program.

Return to basics
He doesn’t need to look for themes from noon to two p.m. It was all in his basic speech when he was elected in 2018. Quebecers elected a nationalist government. There was a strong contingent of business people there to catch up economically and make the government more efficient. In addition, François Legault wanted to make education his priority. Everything is here!
No more is needed. These are the right priorities, but the government has deviated from them, at least apparently.
Nothing to lose, it’s time to act. Sweeping the civil service, private health, an order of teachers, there is no need to be afraid!
