It’s no. And he makes it known. After announcing that he would not enter the government, the president of MoDem, François Bayrou, denounced “a process of humiliation” from the executive towards his party, Wednesday February 7 in the evening. He made these remarks during a dinner with the deputies of his party, participants told France Inter and franceinfo.

The High Commissioner for Planning assures that he was asked to become Minister of the Armed Forces, even though he saw himself elsewhere. To AFP, he quoted “two areas“which seemed to him”deserve full commitment” : “the Ministry of Education“and a great ministry to absorb”the gulf that has widened between the province and Paris“.

“We would like to be treated at the level we deserve”

In front of his troops, the mayor of Pau also affirmed that he was offered four portfolios for the MoDem, when he wanted six. “We would like to be able to be, I believe, treated at the level we deserve, it’s not more complicated than that“, commented Morbihan MP Jimmy Pahun, at the exit. “We are in the majority, but we want to be heard“, he said.

The elected representative recalls the importance of the support of the Palois for Emmanuel Macron, in 2017.Without François Bayrou, there would not have been this wonderful momentum that was Macronism“, he underlines. The centrist party has all the more weight as it has around fifty deputies in the National Assembly. Valuable votes, while the Macronist majority is only relative.

The dinner between François Bayrou and his troops, at the Ministry of Agriculture, led by one of his very close friends, Marc Fesneau, was planned before the bloodshed of the former Minister of National Education. As for the reshuffle, the announcement of which drags on, it is now expected this Thursday.
