Although prices have fallen slightly in recent weeks, fuel prices remain much higher than in other eurozone countries, while oil prices have returned to their pre-war level in Ukraine.

A price at the pump returned to its pre-war level in Ukraine. This is the case on average in the euro zone, but not in France. Excluding taxes, in Italy it is 79 cents, 86 cents in Spain, but in France the price is still 90 cents on average. And adding the taxes, the European disparities are surprising for these motorists. “We wonder where this money goes, who benefits from it?” asks a man.

Social context

But then, why do we pay more for fuel than our European neighbours? Several explanations, in particular the social context of recent months, according to Francis Pousse, representative of Mobilians service stations and new energies. Would oil companies take advantage of this to increase their margins? This is what a large retailer provides. According to her, the supermarkets would have kept the same margin, of 1 cent per litre.
