On the night of Saturday April 13 to Sunday April 14, the French army intercepted shots fired by Iran against Israel as part of “self-protection measures”a French military source told franceinfo after Israel claimed that France had helped it to “outwit” the Iranian attack.

While more than 300 drones and missiles were fired towards Israeli territory and destroyed “in the vast majority” by Israel and the United States, the French army has “contributed to surveillance” military influence that it uses in the region, in Jordan in particular. The French soldiers thus resorted to air defense means “which can be on the ground and in the air”continues this same source.

“Interception actions”

On Sunday, Israeli army spokesperson Daniel Hagari announced that France was one of the countries that helped it defend itself from the unprecedented air attack launched by Iran during the night from Saturday to Sunday.

We have bases in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.”recalled Stéphane Séjourné, guest of the 8 p.m. news on France 2.”We have taken our responsibilities because we are actors in regional security”he continued. The Iranian attack not only implicated Israel, but also undermined the security of our forces.”he explained, adding that France hadparticipated in interception actions.
