New success for the French basketball team. After its victory over Turkey (96-46) on Wednesday, for its first preparation match for the Olympic Games, Vincent Collet’s players confirmed it on Saturday, July 6. Facing the German world champions, the Blues won comfortably 90-66, in Cologne.

Facing a German team without three of its best players, the brothers Frantz & Mo Wagner and Daniel Theis, the Blues dominated in the interior sector and in defensive intensity, keystones of the project wanted by the coach Vincent Collet.

Already brilliant against the Turks, Victor Wembanyama strolled around the Lanxess Arena (25 points, five rebounds, three assists) and asserted himself a little more as the offensive leader of his team, whether at the power forward or pivot position.

Very discreet on Wednesday against Turkey, Evan Fournier (five points, two rebounds in eight minutes) was this time sent off for a bad gesture towards the German leader, Dennis Schröder, after a scuffle between the two players during the second quarter.

On Monday, the date on which the list of 12 French players selected for the Olympic Games will be sent to the CNOSF, Victor Wembanyama’s teammates will once again meet the Germans for a preparation match. An important double confrontation because France and Germany will be in the same group at the Olympic Games.
