Four people were taken into custody and then put in examination for violence in meetings, as part of the investigation opened after the attack on June 11 of an elected environmentalist from La Seyne-sur-Mer (Var), announced, Friday, June 16, the Toulon prosecutor’s office. This elected EELV was seriously injured on the sidelines of a rally of local activists from the far-right Reconquest party. The four suspects were arrested Thursday morning. Their trial is scheduled for July 4, said the public prosecutor of Toulon, Samuel Filniez.
Hakim Bouaksa, elected municipal Europe Ecology-Les Verts d’opposition, had filed a complaint on Sunday, presenting a total incapacity for work (ITT) of 30 days. He was assaulted on the sidelines of a “banquet” of Reconquest militants organized in a campsite. Injuries that the prosecution qualifies as “very serious”.
The four people arrested are “rather people in charge of running the campsite”, specified the prosecutor, without being able to say if they also have a militant profile or sympathizer of the political movement of Eric Zemmour. “The militant side or not is not a determining subject of criminal responsibilities”, insisted Samuel Finielz. The prosecution had opened on Sunday “a flagrance investigation for aggravated violence”entrusted to the police station of La Seyne-sur-Mer.
