Former Secretary of State Jean-Vincent Placé was indicted on Tuesday March 29 for “sexual assault” and “sexual harassment”, learned franceinfo from a judicial source. The former regional councilor of Île-de-France had been in police custody since Monday at the brigade for the repression of delinquency against the person, in Paris, the Paris prosecutor’s office had told franceinfo. He was presented to an investigating judge on Tuesday. He was placed under judicial control, with the prohibition to come into contact with the victim and the obligation to pay a deposit of 20,000 euros.

The former Secretary of State of François Hollande is being prosecuted as part of an investigation opened after the complaint of a former collaborator of Europe Ecologie – Les Verts last November. She accuses him of several facts between 2012 and 2016. Jean-Vincent Placé is already known to justice for acts of sexual harassment. He was fined for harassing a female police officer in charge of his own security. He was also given a three-month suspended prison sentence and a fine of 1,000 euros for violence and outrage at a party.
