The star of the song came incognito in Grenoble to shoot the first clip of his new album in Grenoble. A choice motivated by a rare filming technique in France: volumetric video.

For ever is the first single from Mylène Farmer’s 12th album (The influence) which will be released on November 25. After three years of absence, the singer returns with a breathtaking clip where the artist floats in a strange universe surrounded by strange shapes. This surprising video was born in a Grenoble studio which is at the cutting edge of technology. “We are surrounded by about fifty cameras and lights which allow us to film actors, sportsmen, important personalities to produce volumetric video”, explains Richard Broadbridge, president of 4DView. Volumetric video is a technique that captures movement in 3D. Only 16 studios in the world are equipped with this device. “It comes from French public research. We are trying to convince the world that this new 3D video camera can be used for many things” adds Richard Broadbridge. Clips, films, augmented reality or video games, the outlets are numerous.

Compared to special effects, this device is less expensive because making computer graphics involves several complex steps (modeling, texturing, rigging and animation). Volumetric video has the advantage of gathering all these points at the time of capture and, in addition, it is very precise. “We have the details of the skin, the watch, the smiles. What interests us a lot are emotions. Often, when we play video games, the emotions are not always very faithful. There, we will be able to capture things very faithfully “says Clément Ménier, Managing Director of 4DViews. An unparalleled finesse of the image which undoubtedly seduced Mylène Farmer, reputed to be a very perfectionist.
