Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator: fire risks under the hood

The American manufacturer Ford has just warned owners of its recent full-size SUVs, more specifically the 2021 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator, of the risk of fire in the engine compartment.

Already, 16 incidents have been reported. The source of the problem is not yet identified, but the fires would have started behind the engine, on the passenger side. An investigation is currently underway.

A recall was issued at the same time and it targets 39,000 units in the United States, all manufactured between December 1, 2020 and April 30, 2021. At the time of this writing, the number of units affected in Canada remains to be confirmed.

According to Ford, the fire hazards in question can occur even when the vehicle is parked and turned off. Only three of the 16 reported incidents occurred while the vehicle was on the road.
