France has been facing riots for several days, since the death of young Nahel, killed by a policeman. “There is a revolt that is being expressed and there are also abuses that are taking place, which we must all condemn. We must not confuse the revolt, which may be legitimate after the tragedy that has taken place, and abuses that have nothing to do with this revolt”estimates Yaël Braun-Pivet, president of the National Assembly and guest of the “4 Truths” of France 2, Monday July 3.
“A problem of delinquency of part of the youth”
How to analyze these riots? “It’s more a problem of delinquency of a part of the youth who completely left in the non-respect of authority, of the rules and who, finally, nothing stops them”, indicates the President of the National Assembly. Is there a link between the riots and immigration? “There is a link between the scenes we are witnessing and delinquency among young people, who very often come from the neighborhoods”develops Yaël Braun-Pivet.
Jean-Luc Mélenchon had published a controversial tweet after the start of the riots, declaring: “The watchdogs order us to call for calm. We call for justice”. “Right now, there are arsonist firefighters. In a situation like this, there are no options in public speaking that one has to carry. This public speech is indeed unacceptable”, indicates the President of the National Assembly. Is Jean-Luc Mélenchon an arsonist firefighter? “Of course, he does just that. He feeds on chaos”she says.
