President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen “embodies the technocratic drift of Europe, towards a form of federalism that we reject”denounces the president of the Republicans Eric Ciotti Tuesday March 5 on franceinfo. “Madame von der Leyen will not benefit from the support of the Republicans” during the Congress of the European People’s Party (EPP), which is being held this Wednesday and attended by 23 Republican delegates.
Ursula von der Leyen, seeking a second term at the head of the European Commission, is given the favorite to be named head of the list for the European elections next June. “We accept being a minority in our political family”continues the boss of LR.
“Madame von der Leyen is above all Mr Macron’s candidate”he defends himself. “Mrs von der Leyen, it is the drift that is harming our farmers, it is this headlong rush towards agricultural decline, it is the opening of borders to migrants. These are three serious mistakes”explains Eric Ciotti to explain his party’s position. “I do not believe in the re-election of Mrs von der Leyen because her record will prevent her from being re-elected. Our political family will have to adhere to another solution”he concludes.
