Unlocking Flynn Rider: Step-by-Step Guide

The Wolf of the Woods

To initiate this quest, you’ll first need to gain access to the Wild Woods of Storybook County. As you explore, keep an eye out for a mysterious portal situated in a secluded nook at the southern end of the woods. Once you locate it, speak with the Codicole, who will inform you that the portal leads to a Fairy Tale Trial and suggests you seek the assistance of Merida.

Follow Merida into the Wild Woods and track the footprints to the portal. Retrieve the wheel located on the far left and place it onto the mechanism using a horizontal net strike. This action will allow you to commence the trial named ‘A lamb disguised as a wolf.’

A Lamb Disguised as a Wolf

Upon passing through the portal, you’ll enter the trial area where you need to clear smudges on the far right. Execute a horizontal net strike to open the door, then proceed to investigate the ‘rumbling door’ at the back.

It appears that a wolf is associated with the notorious ‘Wolf of the Woods.’ Your task is to gather evidence that proves he is not a fearsome creature. You must gather items to counter three claims:

  • He has big feet
  • He smells like a wolf
  • His howl is fierce

To collect the necessary evidence, follow these steps:

Big Feet Evidence

Unlock this step by turning the wheel on the far left of the trial’s main hall using a horizontal net strike. This will open a door to a room containing a puzzle. Observe the green symbols and their corresponding numbers, then input them into the mechanism at the back in this order:

  • I: Wolf
  • II: Tower
  • III: Dragon
  • IV: Flower

Once you input the correct sequence, you will acquire Wolf Slippers.

Wolf Smell Evidence

This step is unlocked by turning the wheel on the far right of the trial’s main hall with a vertical net strike, granting access to another room with a puzzle. Here, you will need to concoct a ‘perfect wolf musk’ using the following ingredients:

  • 1 wolf fur
  • 1 oil
  • 1 forest conifer fragrance

Successfully creating this will yield Wolf Water.

Fierce Howl Evidence

To access this step, examine the square on the ground to the right upon entering the trial’s main hall. Use your shovel to alter the pattern until a tower image appears. Upon passing through the newly opened door, you will face a riddle that requires you to place building materials in the correct areas, inspired by the tale of The Three Little Pigs:

  • Straw: First area
  • Wood: Second area
  • Bricks: Third area

Once completed, you will receive a Howling Gramophone.

After gathering all the necessary items, present them at the back of the room to meet Flynn Rider. He will suggest investigating the source of corruption in the newly revealed area. Interact with it, and a gigantic bean will begin to grow towards Maleficent’s castle.

Return to the woods and speak with Flynn, who will ask you to find a suitable location for his home in Storybook Valley. Building his house will require 10,000 star coins, after which you can officially welcome him!

Completing Flynn Rider’s Friendship Quests

The Company of the Wolf

To embark on this quest, you must first unlock Kristoff, Mirabel, and WALL-E. Flynn is trying to overcome his wolf-like tendencies, and as part of your quest, you will need to capture 5 frog anigamis in Storybook County. The most efficient way to do this is by using a horizontal strike.

Once you’ve collected the anigamis, visit the Codicole. She will provide you with the recipe for a basic fairy anigami catcher, which requires the following materials:

  • 1 star sapphire: obtained from rocky outcrops in Storybook County.
  • 1 lamprey: can be fished from orange circles in Storybook County.
  • 5 petrified wood: harvested from rocky outcrops or by breaking piles of petrified wood scattered throughout the valley.
  • 10 volcanic rocks: found by digging in Storybook County.
  • 500 tale magic: collected by completing Storybook Valley Missions.

With these items, craft a basic fairy anigami catcher from the Functional Items tab at a crafting station and place it near Flynn’s house.

Next, Flynn will request that you dig up 3 buried items around his home. Use your royal shovel to unearth them and return them to their respective owners: Mickey, Mirabel, and WALL-E.

Afterward, chat with Flynn and then head over to Kristoff. Join him at Flynn’s place and clear away 9 debris while they converse. Finally, check in with both Kristoff and Flynn to complete the quest.
