The Rendez-vous aux jardins event returns this late spring for a 19th edition! From Friday 3 to Sunday 5 June, it will be possible to visit in the Dordogne more than 40 gardens in the department, both public and private. This is an opportunity to take part in workshops, ask questions to professionals or simply go for a walk. The theme this year: gardens facing the effects of climate change.

- The Pouyouleix Arboretum
The Arboretum des Pouyouleix, located in the north of the department, has a particularity: the largest collection of oak trees in France! A total of 300 species from all over the world and planted in three specific regions. But not only ! In total, the ecological park includes more than 800 varieties of trees and shrubs. Bring good shoes to visit the 25 hectares of park. Labeled by the Conservatory of Specialized Plant Collections, the Arboretum des Pouyouleix is open for the duration of the Rendez-vous aux jardins, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Located in the country of Montaigne, the Gardens of Sardy are open to visitors from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Of English and Italian inspiration, they surround an old fortification from the Middle Ages. In total, 5 hectares classified as a Remarkable Garden and made up of a water garden, a courtyard of scents and medicinal plants. A little extra: a tea room, where the property’s wine is sold. The owners will be present for a guided tour, Friday June 3, at 3 p.m.

- Alaije Botanical Garden
Peat bogs, ponds, toxic or medicinal plants, the botanical garden of Alaije, in Branthôme-en-Périgord, is divided into different themes. Open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., several workshops are planned this weekend: Saturday June 4, an activity on the recognition, picking and cooking of edible wild plants is organized from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sunday, June 5, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., a workshop around the gardener’s auxiliary insects is offered. Curious people of all ages are welcome.

- The Literary Sculpture Garden
A dozen artists exhibit their sculptures east of Périgueux on more than one hectare of greenery. Devoted to French literature, the garden also has a space dedicated to the life and work of Arthur Rimbaud. The sculptors will be available for a “storytelling tour” on Sunday June 5, from 4 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. The garden is accessible this weekend, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. then from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

- The bamboos of Planbuisson
First conceived as a botanical conservatory, the Planbuisson garden in Le Buisson-de-Cadouin brings together 240 species of bamboo. Coming from all over the world, they offer a variety of colors, heights and leaf shapes. A collection scattered over two hectares, which has enabled the garden to obtain the Remarkable Garden label. A nursery and a bamboo object shop will allow you to take home a souvenir. The bamboos of Planbuisson are open from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. then from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
