The peak of the fifth wave of Covid-19 could be reached, according to the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran. Pharmacies that wish can, since Sunday, December 12, remain open every day of the week to vaccinate.
A Parisian pharmacy has been increasing the number of vaccines since the opening of the third booster dose. Same scenario, Sunday December 12. “Since the acceleration of the third dose, (…) we have quadrupled the number of requests”, says the pharmacist, Cyril Slama, who plans to vaccinate 30 people during the day. For him, performing injections on Sunday, despite the labor and cost difficulties, is a united mission. “With good will we will all succeed in getting organized”, he puts into perspective.
Sometimes motivation is not enough. In a pharmacy in Caen (Calvados), staff are lacking. “It would be impossible, it would really be necessary to have a team for that”, explains Elsa Chouraqui, pharmacist. Others do not have enough doses to vaccinate on Sunday. “We should have anticipated and ordered when it was still possible, but as there is a short expiry date on these vaccines, we followed the instructions”, says Victoire Jacob, pharmacist. More than 14 million people have already received their booster dose. The opening of as many pharmacies as possible on Sunday will help speed up the dynamic.
