Thursday, June 9, several fire starts were recorded in the Var and in the Bouches-du-Rhône. Firefighters contain the first fires of the summer season due to drought.
Provence is on fire alert with several fire outbreaks recorded on Thursday June 9. The hills are ablaze even before the great summer heat. In Vitrolles, in the Bouches-du-Rhône, the flames fanned by the wind spread quickly. On site, 120 firefighters and 35 vehicles fought against the fire. According to firefighters, the fire has been fixed since 6 p.m. At least 5 hectares were affected. The nearby SNCF line had to be closed, as well as the motorway exit.
