He was standing in the water, but couldn’t get out. A horse was rescued by Saverne firefighters on Saturday July 2. It was trapped in the Marne-Rhine canalbetween Saverne and Lutzelbourg.
The horse is safe and sound
It was passers-by traveling on a pleasure boat who spotted the animal. A dozen firefighters and rescuers were then mobilized. The animal was tied with two straps and then gently pulled on a tarp spread out at the edge of the water.
Under the eye of the horse’s owner, the operation lasted more than an hour. The animal remained calm throughout.
Once out of the water, he remained lying on the tarp for a minute before getting up.
