A restaurant in a three-story commercial and residential building was engulfed in a fire of unknown origin in downtown Montreal on Sunday evening.
The fire started shortly before 10 p.m. in the basement of the building located on Notre-Dame Street West, near Guy Street.
The fire quickly spread to the 1st floor, but the firefighters dispatched to the scene were able to control the flames after an initial alarm.
No one was injured, since no one was upstairs at the time of the fire, said a spokesperson for the Montreal Fire Department (SIM).
The origin of the fire remains unknown for the moment, just as we do not know the extent of the damage caused to the building, part of which is under construction.
