Hockey Canada says the findings of the investigation into allegations of sexual assault against certain members of the 2018 Canada Junior Team are disputed.
The organization indicated that an appeal process, by videoconference, will take place “in the near future”.
Hockey Canada mentioned that an independent arbitration tribunal received the final investigation report from Henein Hutchison Robitaille srl / SENCRL in November 2022.
The tribunal was mandated to hold a hearing to determine whether certain members of the 2018 ECJ had violated Hockey Canada’s code of conduct and, if so, what sanctions should be imposed on these players.
Hockey Canada added that the tribunal provided its final report to all parties involved, but shortly thereafter a notice of appeal was filed, which is permitted under Hockey Canada’s investigation and adjudication procedures. .
All 2018 ECJ players remain suspended by Hockey Canada and are currently ineligible as players, coaches, officials or volunteers within programs sanctioned by the organization.
