fifteen performing arts unions call to mobilize and demonstrate against the far right

Fifteen performing arts unions (employees and employers) are calling “to mobilize in favor of the candidates who will oppose” to the far right during the legislative elections, in a joint declaration where they also call for demonstrations this Thursday June 13 and Saturday June 15.

This text, entitled “fight against the extreme right by strengthening public services”, is signed in particular by the Syndeac (artistic and cultural companies), Les Forces musicales (Operas, Orchestras), Profedim (producers, festivals) as well as by the federations of the world of entertainment and music of the CGT and the CFDT and by Sud.

“In the situation of acute political crisis that we are going through, and while the risk of an extreme right majority coming to power carrying divisions and intolerance of the other has never been so high, we call on citizens and trade unions and associations to mobilize in favor of the candidates who oppose it”, write these organizations. They are also in favor of supporting candidates who will commit “concretely to break with the reduction in resources of public services and to defend our sector”.

These fifteen unions say “stunned by the score of the extreme right in our country, and extremely worried about what will come out of the legislative elections” which will be held on June 30 and July 7 following the dissolution of the National Assembly decided by Emmanuel Macron on Sunday June 9.

They also call for joining “massively planned demonstrations” this Thursday, June 13, day of mobilization for the defense of public performing arts, as well as Saturday, June 15, day of demonstrations “to support the need for progressive alternatives for the world of work” launched Monday by the CFDT, the CGT, the UNSA, the FSU and Solidaires.
