Festive Screening | The Press

This is the second edition of “DépistaFest” these days, and to mark the occasion, the organization has set a record target of 1,000 people to be tested by June 16.

An initiative of Club Sexu, this well-named festival aims to de-stigmatize and above all standardize screening for sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs).

Why not make it festive, on top of that? Because getting tested is not only a good practice, but in terms of sexual health, it is also a gesture of solidarity. Spread the word. As we know, according to the Department of Health and Social Services, each year some 40,000 Quebecers receive a positive diagnosis of chlamydia, syphilis or other hepatitis. Of this number, young people aged 15-24 are also the most affected.

According to an internal Club Sexu survey, these same young people are also the most likely to cancel an appointment for screening.
