Femicide in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu: the appearance of the spouse expected on Sunday

A man will face justice following the murder of a sexagenarian on Saturday in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, in Montérégie.

The spouse of this woman was arrested Saturday evening by police officers from the Sûreté du Québec. This is the same individual who was arrested and questioned in the evening by the police.

The 64-year-old man is expected to appear by videoconference on Sunday at the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu courthouse.

The victim has also been identified. This is Donna Callahan, 69 years old.

The latter was found seriously injured Saturday afternoon at her home after a relative reported to 911 who was worried that she had missed an appointment. She was transported to a local hospital where her death was confirmed.

The municipal police department then transferred the file to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), which is conducting the investigation in this file.

” The investigation is still ongoing. Technicians from the forensic identification service and the forensic science laboratory were still on site Sunday morning. There will also be an autopsy on the victim to determine the causes of death, ”said Sergeant Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the SQ, on Sunday morning.
