Hard blow for the French team. A week after Lucas Hernandez’s long-term injury, another Blues executive was injured. Midfielder Aurélien Tchouameni suffered a stress fracture in his left foot, Real Madrid announced on Thursday May 9. The day before, he came out during the match in the C1 semi-final return against Bayern Munich (2-1). The Merengue club did not give a duration of unavailability.
This injury is serious and can sometimes require surgery. For Aurélien Tchouameni, the timing is cruel. This news comes three weeks before the Champions League final which he plans to play against Borussia Dortmund in London (June 1), but also one week before the announcement of the list of the French team for Euro 2024 in Germany (from June 14 to July 14).
The 24-year-old is one of Didier Deschamps’ key men, who has used him in 31 of the France team’s last 34 matches. In November 2023, Tchouameni missed two international matches already due to a stress fracture in the same left foot. He had been away from the field for a little over a month.
