Fatal fire in Nice: a third man arrested

A fire broke out in a residential building in Nice a week ago, causing the death of seven people, including four minors. The first two arrested have already been charged and placed in pretrial detention.

A third man has been arrested after the fatal fire in Nice, France Bleu Azur learned on Wednesday July 24 from the public prosecutor, confirming information from Nice morning. DOn the night of Wednesday 17 to Thursday 18 July, uA fire broke out in a residential building in the Moulins district, causing the death of seven people, including four minors.

The criminal track was very quickly raised in this case. Video surveillance images showed the night of the fire “three young men with exposed faces” exit the building and flee shortly before the fire broke out.

The first two arrested have already been charged, as announced by the public prosecutor in a press release on Tuesday. “The person arrested last Thursday in the Alpes-Maritimes has been placed in provisional detention”adds the same source, just like “the person arrested last Sunday in Seine-Saint-Denis”in Noisy-le-Grand.

Aged 25 and 21, they are being charged with “destruction of the property of others by means dangerous to persons resulting in death”, “organized destruction of the property of others by means dangerous to persons resulting in incapacity for more than eight days”, “participation in a criminal association with a view to preparing a crime” and “participation in a criminal association with a view to preparing an offence punishable by ten years’ imprisonment”.
