The chic, second hand
Royal Marine is a new high-end second-hand clothing and accessories boutique located on Laurier Avenue in Outremont. There are jackets, dresses, coats, blouses, shoes, belts, handbags and jewelry from brands such as Chanel, Gucci, Max Mara, Michael Kors, Balmain and Missoni. You can get some real finds here, like $160 Marc Jacobs booties, $40 Michael Kors shiny pumps, $100 Holt Renfrew velvet jacket, $395 Chanel skirt, Gucci handbags, Celine , or a timeless Burberry raincoat.
How does the store work? “Customers come to bring me their clothes and accessories that they wish to sell, and they receive 50% of the sale price”, explains Isabelle Pronovost, founder of Royal Marine. “Some clients have dream pieces, quality clothes that have stood the test of time. I always pay attention to the condition of the clothes, it’s a very important selection criterion for me,” she explains.
And what is most sought after? “It depends, prestigious brands are very coveted, like Gucci, Prada, Yves Saint Laurent. There are clients who tell me: “Let me know when you have Chanel”, others who are simply looking for a nice blouse or a nice pair of shoes”, she says. Her customers who buy the clothes are of all ages, from young people to retirees. As they are unique pieces, the clothes in the store are classified by size, which is very practical.
Isabelle Pronovost worked in event marketing in an advertising agency for fifteen years, then she stopped to raise her two sons.
She has always loved fashion and decided last October to launch this store which gives clothes a second life. “I wanted to embark on a responsible business, I like to unearth little treasures, so you are welcome! »
