The simplicity of Horace Jewelry
Horace Jewelry’s jewelry is very simple: hoop earrings, delicate rings, fine bracelets and necklaces with pretty pendants. “This is really what defines us, simple, quality jewelry at affordable prices,” says Alexandra Cloutier-Bernier, who founded Horace Jewelry with her friend Marie-Josée Fleury. We met them in their workshop in Montreal.
It was at Laval University, during their studies in business administration, that the duo met. Alexandra and Marie-Josée have a common passion for jewelry and created Horace Jewelry in 2012. Their priority has always been to create jewelry at very affordable prices from $25 to $60, in sterling silver, stainless steel, or with natural stones and pearls. “We love jewelry, we like to treat ourselves to it and change it, so the price was very important to us. We are aimed at all women, of all ages, who love our refined, elegant and timeless style,” explains Marie-Josée Fleury.

For 12 years, they have been designing designs together. “We also involve our entire team [elles sont 8 au total avec une stagiaire] in creation, because everyone has desires, ideas, inspirations, and we take them into account,” underlines Alexandra Cloutier-Bernier. Rings, earrings and other bracelets and necklaces are sold online, and in stores in more than 150 points of sale in Quebec, throughout Canada and the United States. Over the years, in addition to jewelry, a range of hair accessories was launched in 2019 including hair barrettes and clips.
By far the most popular items are hoop earrings. “It’s crazy at the moment, everyone is crazy about it! Rings, whether with a small twisted effect, with sparkling zircons, decorated with small beads, thinner or wider, there is a great craze. Freshwater pearls are also the trend of the moment,” analyzes Marie-Josée Fleury.
The jewelry market is very competitive, since several brands have emerged in recent years. “Having studied business administration helps us a lot. We all pay attention to our spending. We launch new products every month, our sales are growing. We take care of our image and the customer experience, which we will continue to do in the coming years. »

Urban fashion
The influence of the street on fashion
Urban fashion is in the spotlight at the VerdunLuv Pop-up Boutique, until February 24. The exhibition Street Wear: a journey to the heart of the interaction between fashion and urban art, presented by Banartmann, offers works by eight artists from here and elsewhere from different sectors of urban cultures. In addition to clothing and other textile pieces, archive photos document the influence of so-called street artists on contemporary fashion and the return of certain trends. For the opening, which takes place this Sunday, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., visitors are invited to wear their most daring outfit for a chance to win a prize. An evening will follow at Bar Palco, very close to the store.
At 3804 Wellington Street, until February 24

Tested
Tinted jelly by Milk
It’s the new colorful tube that everyone is talking about on TikTok: the refreshing tinted jelly. Milk launched this fun product at the beginning of the year, which is reminiscent of jello, with its candy colors and its particular texture, to be applied to the cheeks or lips, for a long-lasting effect. No, it cannot be eaten, it should be noted (whatever your favorite influencers say). Rather, simply slide the tube based on sea water and aloe over the mouth or cheeks, blend quickly (the key word: quickly, the pigment sets quite quickly, thank you, be warned), and That’s it. We tested it for you and indeed, the color does not budge (it even stayed on our lips all night!) For a more diffused effect, we advise you to apply the jelly with a small brush. For an even fresher effect: store in the refrigerator. If it’s worth it? Probably not. If it’s fun and different? Certainly. A great gift idea for all the social media victims in the room. Available in four vibrant colors: pink, coral, berry and red. Five grams for 1000 applications.
$33, on sale at Sephora
