On October 11, 2023, after several suspicious deaths, notably in the orthopedic and traumatic surgery department, the management of the Remiremont hospital (Vosges) recognized “a failure” And “an unprecedented situation”. Two investigations have been opened, but the families of the missing people are still waiting to find out more.

For example, there is the case of Martine Souque, 67 years old when she was operated on for a fractured femur. Everything went well until the day before his release, when his condition suddenly deteriorated.

By reading the medical file after her mother’s death, her daughter Angélique discovers that the hospital did not tell them everything: “A nurse writes that our mother called again at 4 a.m. and that she complained of pain that had risen to her chestshe testifies. However, the nurse writes in black and white that she is putting her back in her bed and that she will come back later. We imagine that ‘later’ is three hours later, when they discover her inanimate, already deceased.”

“We want a trial”

In all, a dozen complaints were filed against the establishment, most of them for involuntary manslaughter. The police are investigating, but the families do not know more. “We want a trial, we want answers. If there has been negligence, notable incompetence, these people must stop practicing.”, insists Angélique Souque, who set up an AJC association for them. She wants to question the Minister of Health during his visit to Remiremont hospital, Monday, December 4, about these unexplained deaths.
